Petro Lakyda

Prof. Petro Lakyda finished his Candidate of Agricultural Sciences (PhD) thesis at the Ukrainian Agricultural Academy (1986) in field of Forest mensuration and forest inventory. His scientific activities on live biomass productivity of Ukrainian forests continued afterwards, resulting in defense of Doctor of Agricultural Sciences thesis at the National Agricultural University of Ukraine (1997). Currently he is a director of Education and Research Institute of Forestry and Landscape Park Management at the National University of Life and Environmental Sciences of Ukraine. Prof. Petro Lakyda is a leader of the scientific school and team, which participated in multiple state-funded and international scientific projects. He is an expert in research fields of forest mensuration and forest inventory, bioproductivity of forests, quantification of their ecosystem services, assessing energy potential of forests.
Research interests:
Modelling forests growth, productivity and bioproductivity with relation to climate change, ascertaining response of forest ecosystems on environmental changes. Research and quantification of forests ecosystems services with application of modern technologies.Creation of a database of field empirical data of live aboveground biomass (over 700 sample plots) for the main forest forming tree species of Ukraine.
